Learn About Real Food

January 26th, 2012

When many people hear the term real food they automatically think of organic foods. However, not all organic foods are considered real foods. Basically, real food will contain no more than five ingredients and all the ingredients will be recognizable as being food and not chemicals. In short, if it is in a can or box, then it is generally not real food. The most desirable real food for the nutrition aspect will be food that is either raw or has been minimally cooked. This is because heat damages the food and particularly protein and antioxidants. A diet of real food consists of foods that are low in carbohydrates, moderate in protein and high in fat. Saturated fats should be eaten in large amounts. This will be from coconut oil, ghee and butter. Animal fats are also good to eat but should only be from animals that were raised in a pasture. Vegetable fats should not be used for cooking but are acceptable for flavoring foods. Good vegetable fats are olive oil, flax oil and avocado oil.

Moderate amounts of animal protein are desired for a real food diet. Fatty-cuts of meat are perfectly fine! Protein should always be eaten with fat. The fat helps the protein be assimilated properly. Grass fed animals provide the best meat for a real food diet. Vegetables should also always be eaten with fat. The best choice when purchasing vegetables is to buy from a local farmer who grows food naturally. Fermented vegetables and yogurt from raw milk provide necessary probiotics for optimal digestion. A small amount of fruits is eaten in a real food diet. Any nuts should be soaked overnight and dehydrated before eating. This reduces phytates, which is considered an anti-nutrient. These are just a few aspects of a real food diet, more information about this diet can be found on REAL Food Blogs.

Do you need a fondant icing recipe? Please visit fondantrecipe.net to find out the best marshmallow fondant recipes. I personally use just a simple fondant recipe. My fondant is made out of marshmallows, water, powdered or confectioners sugar, water, and shortening. I mix it all together. It is a very simple process; however, it does take some skill to make fondant. It is like art. Everyone’s skill is different.

Other factors affect fondant also. The temperature, humidity, and brand of cooking ingredients can affect the outcome of any recipe. So if your fondant does not come out like you want it, try again. It does take practice. After you make it and are satisfied with your results, consider wrapping it in saran wrap and seal in tupperware. This will prevent it from drying out. If it does seem dry, just add a little water and shortening and it should work just fine. Visit fondantrecipe.net for more information.
